Painful hip healed
While I was visiting a friend in Texas, we made plans to walk with family on their ranch. After receiving an extensive tour of their new vineyard, I thought the walk was over—and then we headed out into the ranch itself and began what they knew was our actual outing. After walking for over an hour, I began to experience problems with one of my hips. Picking up my foot to take a step became difficult, and I began tripping on rocks and other things. Trying to compensate by lifting my entire leg only brought on intensive pain.
Since we had not yet turned around to start back, I knew our walk would be at least another hour. My friends, had I told them of my problem, would have lovingly walked home and driven back to pick me up. However, knowing how long that would take and not wanting to draw attention to my condition, I continued to keep up as best I could. I was out in the middle of nowhere on a cattle ranch with no cellphone service, and I had no Bible or writings by Mary Baker Eddy in my pocket to turn to. I have enjoyed healings in the past through my study of Christian Science, and I realized I needed to turn to God and resolve this situation through prayer.
First, I made the conscious choice to listen for divine Truth to meet my need. Immediately, the thought came to me that divine Principle is constantly operating and never gets tired or worn out. This thought lifted me mentally, and I started having less pain and a little more ease in my step. However, it was obvious more work needed to be done. I began to consider each of the seven synonyms of God in much the same way. I knew that divine Mind is constantly functioning freely, and there is no impediment to Mind, no opposite to prevent its full and complete expression. I continued with the remaining synonyms and kept returning to Principle. I affirmed that the law of Principle is unfaltering and operates with dominion.
