Helpful and loving ideas
[“What makes a veteran?” Sandy Sandberg, November 11, 2013, Sentinel]
What a wonderful piece. I have just read it for the second time—the first when it originally appeared. There are so many helpful and loving ideas here. Thanks.

Praise for the Hymnal
I heartily agree with Mark Raffles in his praise of the Christian Science Hymnal (“Discovering the Christian Science Hymnal,” November 18, 2013). The Hymnal has been a great joy and source of healing for me, too. I would only add my appreciation of the Concordance to Christian Science Hymnal and Hymnal Notes, first published by The Christian Science Publishing Society in 1961 The notes particularly are such a rich source of insight and information about the authors and composers. Maria Louise Baum, who is the principal author, has done us all a great service. In addition, she is the author of seven of the hymns.

Persistence
[“Don’t let fear stop you from sharing,” Curtis Ray Brown, November 4, 2013, Sentinel]
What I loved the most was Curtis Ray Brown’s persistence, and that he’s come to a comfortable, confident place. This is the thing I need to remember to have more of—persistence and a greater trust in God. This has helped. Very inspiring. Thank you, Curtis!

So true
[“Get more done,” Tom Denison, November 4, 2013, JSH-Online Sentinel]
Reading Tom Denison’s first sentence elicited a grim laugh—in my case, so true! Thanks for helping me start my day in the right mind frame and for reminding us to be more still and to dig deeper as we read and reread familiar sentences from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and, of course, the Bible.

Hungering for insight
[“Corruption-free,” Kevin Graunke, October 28, 2013, Sentinel]
Thank you so much. I have been hungering for insight about how to “hold crime in check,” as Mary Baker Eddy tells us we have enlisted to do (see Science and Health, p. 97), when the crime seems to be of Goliath proportions.
I’m so glad the corruption references in the article included greed and the handling/healing of it.
Thank you for taking this stand and for sharing it.
