Defense against confusion

From Australia to China, the United States to Egypt and Zimbabwe, nations and individuals are grappling with complex economic and social problems. Analyses and reports sometimes add to the confusion and uncertainty about priorities. Prayer for clarity of thought individually, nationally, and internationally is vital, no matter where one lives. The Psalmist offers an invaluable insight, praying, “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion” (Psalms 71:1).

Putting our trust in God, the one Mind, is a powerful defense against confusion at every level. Mortal mind, the source of confusion, would encourage uncertainty and would obscure wise and progressive solutions. Recognizing God as the one and only Mind eliminates mortal mind’s divisive influence.

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy makes this very clear: “The basis of all health, sinlessness, and immortality is the great fact that God is the only Mind; and this Mind must be not merely believed, but it must be understood” (p. 339).
