Serenity restored
On Friday December 14, I was watching TV about the school shooting in Connecticut for two hours. I finally realized I was getting disturbed and turned off the TV and prayed. After praying, I went out to get the mail, and there was the December 31 issue of the Sentinel.
In the Sentinel Watch column was an article by Kim C. Korinek, “Addressing tragedies and ‘sudden endings.’ ” After I read that article, my serenity was restored. I am very grateful that the Sentinel was delivered when I needed it.

My thanks
Just received the Christmas Sentinel [December 24, 2012] and can withhold my thanks no longer! This is just a small note, but I hope you can all feel the deep appreciation and gratitude overflowing and overflowing for all the work that you do every day. Such light, such love, shining, embracing, encouraging, rejoicing: “The Christ is here, all dreams of error breaking” [Rosa M. Turner, Christian Science Hymnal, No. 202 ].

Contemplating light
[“The light that outshines tragedy,” Fujiko Signs, December 18, 2012]
I am often struck, too, by how brilliant the moon can be although we see no evidence of the rays of the sun moving toward the moon—we only see the sun’s rays when they reach and touch the moon. Obviously, the rays must be filling the space between the sun and moon, too! They are there, but we don’t “see” them with these human eyes. Light is a wonderful thing to contemplate! Thank you for this beautiful article and all its ideas!

Coach me, God!
[“Welcoming correction,” From the editors, December 17, 2012]
This sweet-as-a-sheep editorial makes me actually long for God’s correction! It reminds me of the lines in a hymn that read: “How gentle God’s commands / How kind His precepts are” (Philip Doddridge, Hymnal, No. 124 ).
It also throws a new light—a gentle light—on the part of the “Daily Prayer” that reads: “… let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love … rule out of me all sin;…” (Mary Baker Eddy, Manual of The Mother Church, p. 41 )
That little verb let now means to me: “Coach me, God! Correct me. Clean me.”

Completeness comes from God
[“How divine Love restored a marriage,” Wendy Clayton, December 17, 2012]
This will help many. I am always very grateful for such healings. Learning that our completeness and joy come from God and not our partner makes for a strong marriage.
