Praise God's provision
A Bible verse that has offered many helpful insights to me over the years is from Malachi, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” (3:10). This passage shows me that I need to give constant gratitude to God for every evidence of good in my life, to have an expectancy of only good, and to let God show me just how much He can bless His children. God’s provision is impartial and universal and knows no end.
I’d like to share some thoughts and experiences on the connection between praising God, magnifying His goodness and abundance, and relief from drought or deficient water supply—issues that trouble many global communities today.
Many instances in the Bible reveal God’s abundant provision in times of lack. Hagar, fearing death in the desert with her young son, had her eyes opened in time to see a nearby well (see Genesis 21:19). The children of Israel wandered in the desert and cried for Moses to quench their thirst. God met that need by providing water from a rock (see Numbers 20:7–11).
