I am grateful for God

Last year, at a camp for Christian Scientists, I played in the lake. And I was having so much fun, but I got water in my ear. When I got to shore I tried to get the water out of my ear. But I said, “Oh, that’s OK, it will eventually come out in the shower or something.” A few days later my ear started to hurt. I thought that was not possible because I was having so much fun!! That night when we were at evening activity, it really stung. So I went back to my cabin and read my Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I opened it to page three. It said there that “gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks.” That really helped me, because I started thinking about how to express my gratitude, even with my ear hurting. So I thought about how grateful I was to be at camp. And I was grateful for God and for all the blessings God gives me all the time.

After that I went to the Christian Science practitioner’s cabin and lay on the couch. The practitioner prayed with me. She told me that God made me perfect and that water stuck in my ear was not a part of the real me.

I listened to the story about when Jesus healed a man of being blind. Jesus healed the man in an instant. I thought that I could be healed in an instant, too, because the real truth about me was that I was God’s reflection and I could only reflect good.
