PERSISTENCE IN PRAYER HEALS BLADDER TROUBLE

For several years I'd experienced frequent pressure on my bladder and made many trips to the bathroom, both day and night.

At the time, there was a prescription drug commercial on TV that characterized the symptoms I was experiencing. It had a catchy jingle playing over scenes of people running to the restroom in desperation. To a certain degree, that was me, too. If my husband and I went for a trip in the car, we constantly looked for places to stop, and my sleep was frequently interrupted. This situation was both uncomfortable and annoying, so I decided to rely on prayer in Christian Science to find permanent healing.

I prayed often about this, affirming the absolute truth about my spiritual identity as God's image and likeness, and denying reality to anything that challenged God's harmony and supremacy. Throughout this time, I continued to notice commercials on TV that claimed medical answers to this problem. Although the arguments posed by the commercials were meant to be compelling, I knew from past healing experiences that seeking solutions through material sources would not bring me permanent relief. I felt I could only gain my complete freedom by understanding more about my relationship to God, who would not cause me to suffer in any way.
