PATIENCE GAINED, RASH HEALED

A few years ago, I was participating in my sorority's rush activities at college, which involved introducing myself to other students and making friendly conversation. Suddenly I developed a rash that covered my entire body, except for my face. I remember thinking that this was the worst time to have this problem, since I was supposed to be focusing on socializing and meeting new friends.

Since I'd been raised in Christian Science, I knew there was more to this situation than met the eye. In other words, I felt sure the rash could be healed by turning to God's love to help free me from worry and irritation. Since I was too uncomfortable and distracted to continue, I excused myself from the rest of the day's festivities.

I called a Christian Science practitioner to help support me in my prayers, and for the next few days I spent most of my time at the local Christian Science Reading Room, where I prayed and listened to testimonies of healing from Sentinel Radio programs. The people on these programs shared how they were using ideas from the Bible and Science and Health to meet challenges they were facing in their lives.
