Welcome, Christmas

Joy to the world! It's a message that has rung out through countless years. Whether in times of peace or war, boom or bust, storm or shine, December 25 has never failed to dawn—and with it the message of hope and goodwill, through the powerful reminder that a Saviour was born to bless the world for all time.

True, people don't always feel joy on demand on this or any other day. But have you noticed how some of the most inspiring Christmas stories that have made their way into people's hearts tell how the light dawned in places or circumstances that cried out, "There is no joy"—in foxholes, lonely waiting rooms, dark mental places of hopelessness? Places where, in the familiar words of Phillips Brooks, "the dear Christ entered in," transforming the scene with needed hope and healing?

Whenever, wherever, that takes place, Christmas is happening!
