'I was happy to discover I was alive'
Originally published in Le Héraut de la Christian Science
After my aunt became acquainted with Science and Health, she recommended it to my mother. The study of this book, together with the Bible, brought them so many benefits that they began to talk about it in glowing terms. They explained to me that in Science and Healthyou could find the healing method that Jesus practiced, and this made an impact on me. But two religions were already being practiced in my family—one from my mother's side and one from my father's—and I didn't see the use of studying or following the teachings of a third faith.
In spite of this, I made an effort to read Science and Health. But without any follow-up, I ended up forgetting it, and left it on the attic floor.
