'BIBLE STUDY CHANGED MY LIFE'
I sat in the pew staring straight ahead, willing myself to look normal, trying to make my mind a blank. I told myself to take deep, even breaths. You will not cry; you will not make a scene. I swallowed hard, choking back tears.
There was the usual pre-service chatter, people greeting one another. One kind soul reached over and patted my shoulder. "You look like you could use a friend, dear. Have a bad week?"
I tried to smile, but it was way too shaky. This is ridiculous. I have to get out of here, I thought. I hurried back to find my husband.
