A clear understanding of womanhood brings healing
FOR ABOUT 18 YEARS , whenever menstruation came, I would be incapacitated for six to seven hours during the first day. And if this time fell on a weekday, I would miss school, and later, work. My mother would give me whiskey and aspirins on the way out the door, but many times I would have to come back home.
When I met my husband, he told me about Christian Science, and he gave me Science and Health. This book said that God was in control of every aspect of your life and brought out how Jesus demonstrated this. In fact, as a child, I always had the question, "Why can't we heal today, just like Jesus did?" The answer came many years later through the ideas in Science and Health.
One of the ideas that was helpful to me during this time was this: God is our Parent, our Mother and Father. If God is good and is our Father and our Mother, then we don't have to have any bad character traits or physical diseases that are termed hereditary. God is our creator, and He created us spiritually, not materially. We are children of God. This means that we have all of the limitless capabilities of a son or daughter of God.
