Prayer heals headaches and skin condition

The hatred evident in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks completely shocked and horrified me. Although I had studied international relations, including acts of terrorism and violence, I felt weighed down with feelings of heaviness, evil, and darkness.

A few days after the attacks, I started to get severe headaches, and developed a skin condition that involved swelling on half my head. I was debilitated by the headaches, which would sometimes last for several days, and found myself unable to do a lot of the things I normally did. It was hard to think, and I lost my appetite. I missed work sometimes.

Whenever I feel sick or uneasy or afraid, I turn to God in prayer. I did this even when I was a child. It has always been the way I find peace and healing. So it was normal for me to pray for healing in this case. Right away, I found it easy to feel grateful for familiar Bible passages—verses that had comforted me in my childhood.
