NEW FEATURE

Through a spiritual lens—a photo gallery

A dance of joy, a shimmering smile, a sunset's spark setting ordinary objects afire, a vivid sunflower against blue-sky glory, the tenderness of baby-love even in war—these are moments in time and space as much as they are the spiritual compositions of the photographers who captured them. These images in this week's arts-related issue of the Sentinel kick off a new photographic feature—Through a spiritual lens. The Sentinel will occasionally publish spiritually meaningful photographic images, and invites photographers to submit offerings for the feature.

I take photos because I find inspiration in most of what I see around me. Beautiful subjects such as people, landscapes, sports, and still lifes are inherently inspiring. Unaesthetic subjects such as industrial machinery can be inspiring, too, if you look at them in the right way.
