When winning is the only thing
The legendary American football coach Vincent Lombardi was famous for his commitment to winning. "Winning isn't everything," he's often quoted as saying, "it's the only thing." But according to Laury Hammel, a founder of Business for Social Responsibility, Lombardi's idea of winning wasn't only about the score. It included giving your whole heart and strength to an endeavor. And for Hammel and other speakers at a recent symposium on spirituality and careers, the one commitment worth making is to serve people and God.
Winning isn't about material gain. It's about finding life in God.
