Using the Web—without being used by it
The Internet is a servant, not a master.
When I got my first personal computer a few years ago, I was completely enthralled by the new world of information and speed it promised me. And I strove to master its potential.
Gradually, however, I found myself more and more absorbed. This interfered with my healthy interaction with others. When the computer shut down, I shut down. This was unusual, since I am normally rather gregarious.
It didn't take long to realize that a change was needed, and for me, freedom came when I remembered that my real relationship was with God, not the computer. I needed to perceive how God wanted me to spend my days.
