Help during childbirth
Seven years ago, when I was pregnant with our third child, I made a decision. At the moment I didn't think much of it. Hours later, however, I realized how valuable and life-changing that decision was—not only to me but to our baby as well.
During previous pregnancies, I had learned that daily prayer made a difference at this joyful and expectant time. My first pregnancy was filled with fear and doubt. The obstetrician was not able to alleviate my deep-seated anxiety, and the pregnancy ended, sadly, in miscarriage. At that time I was searching for a deeper meaning of creation, birth, and identity. This intense search led me back to the system of spiritual healing through prayer, that is explained in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I was already familiar with it, because our family had relied on Christian Science for healing throughout my childhood.
