You can trust the infinite resources of Soul "IRS"
Facing financial hurdles with confidence in Christ
Once my husband and I needed to sell a rental property for less than the outstanding mortgage balance. This required us to bring money to the closing. No sooner had this deal closed than we learned that we faced yet another financial hurdle—the payment of a huge tax bill from this sale. We would need to pay the Internal Revenue Service, or IRS, several thousand dollars in about fourteen months. Besides this, we had recently moved to a new state and started a small business. It was all we could do to meet our basic expenses each month, and the last of our savings had gone to close the real estate deal.
The situation looked hopeless and frightening. There were times when I simply sat down and wept. It became clear that there was a choice to be made. I could either worry, or I could pray. I decided to pray.
Despite the way things looked, I knew the real need was not material, but spiritual. I needed to enlarge my concept of God and to know that as a child of God, I always had been and would be cared for by Him. Not just for the next fourteen months, but throughout eternity.
