Trusting God totally

Have you ever felt something so deeply that it touched you and changed your life in some wonderful way? You felt it was the truth. No one had to tell you. It just made sense. Knowing the truth about yourself as God's image, or reflection, can have that effect. You want to live it, and it inspires you. Even when something comes along that would try to convince you that you are something other than God's perfect likeness, you know the truth and hold to it, because you're sure of it. It's provable.

One time Matt had an experience where he did this. Basketball tryouts at his junior high school were just around the corner. This was something he had been eagerly looking forward to all year. He and his dad had been practicing almost every day, and Matt was hopeful about making the team.

But something happened that seemed to threaten Matt's opportunity even to try out for the team. He woke up one morning with a rash on his face. At first he wasn't too worried about it. He did worry later, though, when it rapidly spread on his face and caused him pain. A friend who was a doctor saw Matt's face and told him the condition was contagious. He stayed home from school at his parents' recommendation.
