I was leaving my bedroom during the month of January 1995...
I was leaving my bedroom during the month of January 1995 when I slipped and fell. The pain from the fall was so great that my son insisted that I go to a hospital, even though I wanted to see a Christian Science practitioner. An X-ray was taken, and they found that the pain was caused by a broken bone in my back. At the hospital, the doctors wanted to give me medication, but I would not take it because I have always turned to God for my healing.
I was transferred to a skilled nursing home, which I chose because it was close to my own residence; it was easy for my son to visit me. During the two weeks I was there I remained in terrific pain, but I continued to read Science and Health because it had always helped me with healing in the past. Unfortunately, I soon ran into the problem of medication being insisted on every day. This made for an unhappy relationship between the staff and myself, and they finally said they would not take care of me any longer.
I wanted to be cared for in a Christian Science nursing facility, but the only one available was quite far from my home, which would be very inconvenient for my son. Despite the distance, I made the decision to transfer there, as I knew it would be conducive to healing.
