Nearly 300 studies dating to the 1890s touch directly or indirectly on the role of religion in healing, said Dr. David Larson, a research psychiatrist formerly at the National Institutes of Health and now at the private, nonprofit National Institute for Healthcare Research.
"When people pray, many times something good hapens," Larson said "Given the frequency of beneficial findings, we believe it deserves more attention."
