My testimony of 1967 (Sentinel, March 25) mentioned a remark my husband made after our eldest son's healing of scarlet fever: "I feel as though we've been through a storm without even getting wet." More recently, we experienced a storm in which I not only got wet but almost drowned. In both cases, Christian Science was the buoy to which I clung; it uplifted me and, I am confident, kept me from "going under."
Our son had always been a high achiever in school, and he was well liked by his friends and faculty. But in his senior year, perhaps feeling pressured, perhaps because of bad influences, he began to skip classes—often for days at a time.
Professional counseling didn't help, but what did help was the advice of a hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 315):
