God first
I recall seeing the same small plaque on the desks of several people I greatly respected and admired. Each plaque said: GOD FIRST.
At a glance, the meaning seems simple: "Whatever you're doing, put God first." Good advice for anyone. But look closer, and the words GOD FIRST become bookends for an encyclopedia of helpful insights.
For example, the words GOD FIRST imply that God is our creator, our first Parent. "That which was first was God, immortal Mind, the Parent of all," Mary Baker Eddy confirms (Unity of Good, p. 35). Identifying God as the creator of man has Scriptural authority, as when Christ Jesus said, "The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit" (John 3:8).
