Christian Science was recommended to me when I entered a sanitarium for tuberculous patients. My sisters said it would do me much good. I procured a Bible, a copy of Science and Health, and a current Christian Science Quarterly. With these I began reading the weekly Bible Lesson.

I also wrote to a Christian Science practitioner in a distant city and asked if she would help me; she replied, agreeing to pray for me.

Six weeks after I began the study of Christian Science, a smoking habit of some sixteen years ceased, and I never again had a desire to smoke. This healing has been an inspiration to me, because willpower had no part in it.
