When my son was about twelve years old he was medically diagnosed with mononucleosis. I was told that there was no medical treatment for this disease, and that complete bed rest would be necessary for some time, followed by a long period with very little activity.
On hearing this news, I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. We prayed to understand that my son was entirely spiritual, not material. And we endeavored to follow this instruction from page 14 of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy: "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints."
