No unworthy petitioners
Few things unite mankind more than an earnest desire to know how to pray. But many may feel they are undeserving of God's tender mercies.
The Science of Christ dispels this mistaken belief that there are unworthy petitioners. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy states: "In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as 'a very present help in trouble.' Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals" (pp. 12–13).
If we are sick or are being disobedient to God's laws, we may feel that we are unworthy to receive God's help. Yet, our fears and our ignorance of divine Love's presence may be the very reason we are struggling because we have convinced ourselves that we can be separated from God's love and wisdom.
