Several healings in Christian Science have resulted from the special help I've received by understanding the truth of "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Mary Baker Eddy writes: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."
More than thirty years ago, I was healed of a leg injury sustained in a skiing accident. At the time, the pain was so great that I was close to losing consciousness. But a Christian Scientist in our group knelt beside me and aided me by stating the truth of God and man audibly, especially "the scientific statement of being."
The pain disappeared immediately and I did not lose consciousness. I was able to stand and walk on the leg. This was an instantaneous healing. There were no aftereffects such as swelling or discoloration, and the healing has been permanent. This experience has meant much to me, and its inspiration has remained fresh through years.
