Christian Science came into my life when I did not want to go...

Christian Science came into my life when I did not want to go on living. I was under medical treatment, taking nerve tablets. One day I'd had enough; I got up at five o'clock in the morning and went to the sea to end my misery. But God had other plans for me.

As I got out of my car, I happened to see two policemen watching. So, with tearful eyes, I got back in my car and drove to my parents' home. I said to my mum, "I need help." She told me I needed Christian Science. She knew about this religion because she used to go to the Christian Science church with her mum when she was in her teens. When she grew up, she stopped going, but she never gave it up in her heart. For this I am very grateful.

The first Sunday I went to church I could not wait for the service to end. I did not understand one word. As I was leaving, vowing never to return, one of the ushers kindly asked me if I was a visitor. I replied I was looking for something, and she said, "You will find it, love." I went home that day and told my mum there was love in that church. That was something I wanted more of.
