I have seen and experienced many healings through Christian Science. My mother was a Christian Science practitioner; and as I grew up, whenever I had a difficulty I would go to her, knowing well that she would help. She helped me realize that the solution for any problem is always available through reliance on God. So-called childhood diseases, fever, headache, stomachache, and troubles with friends were all healed.

At one point while growing up I had a severe case of athlete's foot. I studied Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and was completely healed. Another time I had a large boil on my cheek and was very fearful. But I prayed, as did my mother, and the boil opened and drained. The healing was complete. These healings were proof to me as a young person of the power of God.

Later, when I served in the armed forces in Vietnam, I had a severe rash on my chest. Toward the end of my tour of duty I was content to think all would be well when I got home. But the rash became worse, and I began to realize that it is spiritual understanding, not a person or a place, that heals. The healing came after my clearer realization that man in God's likeness is not material and subject to such things as a rash but is actually the perfect idea of God.
