Christian Science was introduced to me in my late teens
Christian Science was introduced to me in my late teens. At first I did not want to accept something so unlike my religious background. I finally realized, however, that the God defined in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was the only one I could fully believe in. I started to read the Bible Lesson each day and to attend a nearby branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
For years I had suffered from very severe bronchial colds that did not yield to medical help or the loving ministrations of my parents. After I became interested in Science, no material remedy was used and there was some improvement. I was able to keep going rather than stay in bed, but it often seemed a struggle. I can now see that while I agreed with what I was reading, I did not really study Science or put it into practice consistently.
As the years went by, I ceased being so impressed with the condition and truly began to study and think, rather than just read. I became a branch church member and a member of The Mother Church. The colds became less frequent.
