When I was ten my mother, who was quite ill, was given a Christian Science Sentinel by a friend. My mother immediately knew Christian Science was what had been missing in her life. She started studying it wholeheartedly, and she was completely healed. She enrolled my sister and me in the Christian Science Sunday School. I remember coming home from my first visit saying, "Mom, you'll never guess what we talked about? We talked about God!" While such a topic for discussion might seem obvious or quite expected, for me it was a special experience. The next ten years of Sunday School were wonderful. There are no words to express my gratitude for each and every Sunday School teacher I had. They were all wonderfully dedicated Christian Scientists. They were strong, loving, helpful people.

I would like to tell two of the healings I had during this time. One was the healing of a growth on the bottom of my foot. It had been bothering me for some time. I didn't mention it to my Sunday School teacher, but the spiritual truths she voiced in class so illumined my thought that I was conscious only of God and His goodness and never worried any further about the foot. Some time later I was playing outside barefoot. Before I came into the house I thought I had better wash my feet. As I was washing that particular area I saw that the growth was completely gone!

Another healing occurred several years later. I had difficulty getting up after sitting for long periods of time. I would rise slowly because of pain in my back. The pain lasted a few minutes and then disappeared—until I got up again. I was in my teens at the time, so this happened regularly throughout the school day.
