Whenever I read or hear the words "O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me," I am reminded of the first physical healing I ever had in Christian Science. These words begin Psalm 139, which I was asked to study when I called a Christian Science practitioner for help.
The physical condition had not been medically diagnosed, but for some time a distressing internal disorder had plagued me, and at this particular point I had been confined to my home for about a week.
When I read that opening verse of the psalm, I caught a first glimpse of my true, spiritual selfhood and realized without doubt that God could only know me in spiritual terms.
