It is with gratitude that I share this testimony in the hope that it may serve to encourage and uplift other Truth-seeking individuals. My first healing in Christian Science came when I was working in an office that was near a railroad. The air was usually very smoky and cinders flew about. Every day one of the employees would have to go to the office clinic to have a cinder removed from an eye.

One night after I had returned home and was having dinner, a cinder that apparently had been on my eyelash suddenly became lodged in my eye. I tried everything, including rinsing the eye with water, but the cinder would not come out. By then the eye was clamped shut and the pain was so bad that it was difficult even to open the other eye. Somehow I got to the living room and sat down on the couch, I began to affirm that Spirit, God, is All. At the end of about five minutes the cinder simply disappeared. Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 264), "Matter disappears under the microscope of Spirit." I am grateful to have demonstrated this spiritual truth in some small way.

At another time when my baby girl became ill with intestinal flu, it was necessary to take a mighty stand for healing in Christian Science. I called a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for the child. I prayed too. After three days of steadfast prayer, affirming God's healing power, I felt that I could do no more. Suddenly my daughter's true nature as the perfect likeness of God was completely clear to me. I went into the bedroom to check on the child as usual and found she was entirely healed. She was smiling and kicking her little legs and was as happy and healthy as she could be!
