Exodus from moral dilemma

Today there is condemnation from many quarters of what is called the decadence of the western world—its absorption in materiality, especially sensuality, and its neglect of the moral and spiritual. Much of the blame for this deterioration is placed on "the sexual revolution."

If one aspect of the sexual revolution frees women and men from stereotypes—giving woman the freedom to be treated fairly in career activities and giving men the freedom to expand their nurturing qualities in the family and home—that's progress in the social order. But if another aspect of the sexual revolution involves the breakdown of moral values—resulting for many in the license to do what they please instead of pleasing to do what is good—a moral dilemma ensues.

We hear people say: "You won't approve of the way I live" or "I don't approve of my son's or daughter's life style." Most people would not deliberately choose to live outside the standards set in the Old and New Testaments if they truly understood the spiritual reasons for these standards. But widespread belief in psychological and biological pressures has contributed to the attempt to justify extramarital sexual relations.
