Expecting God's guidance and support

A young woman was involved in a lease that was a potential legal problem, and was concerned whether her position would be favorably resolved or result in a lawsuit. She very much wanted to handle the situation through prayer in Christian Science so that all parties would benefit and be blessed. She called a Christian Science practitioner, and in the course of their conversation she read to the practitioner a copy of the letter her lawyer had sent on her behalf. It began: "Dear Sir: Thanking you for your expected cooperation..."

Here was the very answer to the young woman's question as to how to pray most effectively! She could immediately begin her prayer by thanking God for His expected help. She could begin her prayer with this joyous affirmation because she wholeheartedly trusted and expected God to impart only infinite goodness to His creation. The solution that would come by her turning to God could only hold the greatest good for everyone.

Christian Science assures us that man and the universe are spiritual, created by God, and are eternally governed by Him. In this universe everything is held safe and secure. Everything is forever in His intelligent care. As the young woman spiritually discerned this reality, she could confidently expect the law of God, the law of omnipotent good, to be evidenced in total blessing for all. She also realized that the solution to this case did not rest with people and their opinions, but with God. Sincerely trusting His wisdom, she could say with the Psalmist, "Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved." Ps. 62:1, 2.
