Study to know eternal Life
Browsing through the contents of most bookstores these days, one might conclude that all he has to do to become an expert in any subject is to buy and read a book! You can become a specialist on how to enjoy a perfect marriage or how to adjust to divorce, how to get rich quick or how to live on a limited budget. There are even books on how to die. But how much more helpful it is to study the nature of eternal Life, God, and to prepare people to live more effectively!
The Bible, the Book of books, teaches that before death can be met and fully mastered, spiritual regeneration must take place. Paul taught, "... this mortal must put on immortality." I Cor. 15:53; Christ Jesus understood the spiritual nature of man and his unity with God. This understanding enabled him to prove, in his resurrection and ascension, his dominion over the grave and the false material sense of life. He told his disciples, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Matt. 16:24;
How deeply have you and I been touched by Jesus and his teachings? All of us can discover what constitutes our true identity. A denial of material selfhood will aid us in spiritually discerning the nature of Christ and our own Christly identity, our immortal self. Then a transformation will take place. Resurrecting thought is a self-disciplining opportunity and provides us with a new self-image, the one made in the likeness of Spirit.
