Spirit's constant spring
Each trial
is but a dream—
a passing weight
to test the greatness
of our thought.
Each human moment passes
and is gone;
God's nowness lingers
in eternity.
One fallen leaf
is not a death at all,
but the drama of a moment
objectified to mortal sense.
Sure evidence
of man as God's own child
is gained through Love,
proclaimed in works and faith.
We wake—break cold bonds
of human change—
and bloom to light
and freedom
in Spirit's constant spring.
WILLIAM F. CONNER
