Today ashore

But God led the people about,
through the way of the wilderness
of the Red sea: and the children of
Israel went up harnessed out
of the land of Egypt.

(Exodus 13:18)

I ran the Red Sea today.

With Moses—and God—
we walked across on dry land.
I fairly ran
but not from fear.

We are all ashore now—free
from Egypt, slavery, and harnesses.
Pyramid tombs and Pharaohs are gone.
Up ahead an unknown wilderness.
But our onwardness of yesterday
offers us a new today, ashore!

I stop to pray!
