There were many difficulties in my life at the time I first encountered Christian Science at a lecture four years ago. I had been receiving medical treatment for rheumatic symptoms and was under the constant surveillance of a gynecologist because of a previous major operation.

My husband had been having difficulties connected with his work for some fifteen years, which resulted in deteriorating health: severe headaches, intestinal and stomach disorders. He had tried many different kinds of medicine and a continuous change of doctors; nothing was of any avail.

Family relationships with my brother and sister-in-law were inharmonious and seemed insoluble. When I found Christian Science a whole new world opened up to me. For two years before this I had had the strong feeling I was being guided to something new. I was an active member of a Protestant church, but it didn't appeal to me anymore.
