Rise Higher and See the Whole Rainbow

Only from a high altitude—as from an aircraft—can we see a rainbow as a complete circle. Yet years before aircraft were invented, the poet Robert Browning wrote: "On the earth the broken arcs; in the heaven, a perfect round." " Abt Vogler "; Christian Science teaches that we discover the perfection of spiritual reality only by lifting thought.

How true it is that the earthly, material sense of things is never completely harmonious, never completely consistent, never completely continuous! Looking at and believing in the reality of these appearances, we might try to fix things up—try to add some good and take away some evil. But, considered in the light of Christian Science, the imperfections on earth are not solid facts, needing to be changed, but false beliefs we may be accepting. The material, discordant, incomplete picture we see is a misconception. This is why a higher sense, the spiritual view, reveals the actual completeness already present. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 95:

This higher, spiritual sense of things is an effective help in improving every area of our experience. Lack of supply, for instance, is the result of looking in the wrong direction for good. But as we look in the right direction to realize we are Mind's ideas, reflecting Mind's conception of the infinity of good, and so including unlimited supply, we can connect with the perpetually flowing stream of good coming to us from on high. Then we come to feel we have the ability to lift thought to the point where we can see good manifested.
