What Is Going On in God's Universe?

When decisions important for one's future are being made, when promotions are being considered in business or grades are being figured out in school, one often wonders what is happening, what is going on. This period of waiting may become one of anxiety and fear, spoiling one's disposition, perhaps causing sleepless nights or even physical illness.

In waiting for decisions to be reached we can confidently realize that "God is working His purpose out"^{Christian Science Hymnal, No. 82;} and that the decision can only be a blessing for all concerned. We can insist that no mortal's will or opinion can control any event. Mrs. Eddy writes of God" "He has mercy upon us, and guides every event of our careers.^{Unity of Good, pp. 3,4;} This understanding destroys the false belief that luck or chance can control our destiny.

There is no need for worry or fear when one acknowledges that God governs every situation and bestows only good upon His children. Paul assures us, "It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."^{phil. 2:13;} In Christian Science we learn that God's will is always good. His plan for His creation contains no element of evil or discord. Under His divine government good is omniactive everywhere.
