Truth Against Error

Christian Science interprets the Scriptures as teaching that God is Truth, and it asserts that anything not of God, or good, is not true, hence is error—a Scriptural term for evil. Any prayerful effort to heal through Christian Science calls for the pitting of Truth against error. Then such a spiritual effort is not a contest between a person and an error but between Truth itself and the error. The full force of Truth is in this way brought to bear upon the inharmonies of the carnal, or mortal, mind, regardless of whether an inharmony claims to be great or insignificant.

Truth is never limited, nor is its power divided among many mentalities. Its undivided might is here for all to reflect. Christ Jesus understood this fact so well that he could finally say, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." Matt. 28:18; And he made the astonishing promise that those who believed on him—lived the Christ, God's ideal, that he manifested—would do the works that he did, and even greater ones. Jesus was explaining the Science of power and declaring its universality. Whatever is truly scientific is always universal in its availability.

Silence human will and belief in personal power, and Truth, or Mind, finds freedom to reveal the divine ideas that embody power over error. Mary Baker Eddy knew how to keep her human self out of the way of this divine process. She explains, "That individual is the best healer who asserts himself the least, and thus becomes a transparency for the divine Mind, who is the only physician; the divine Mind is the scientific healer."
