In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy we read (Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I have been privileged to experience this truth again and again.

When I was still a young woman, I had sores in my mouth that bothered me for a number of years. I was frequently able to take only liquid or very soft nourishment for weeks at a time. I went from one doctor and from one dentist to another, but without success. A famous professor whom I consulted recommended irradiation, but he said that for it to be successful, I would have to stop working. That was impossible. I telephoned my sister and told her my trouble. She spoke to me encouragingly and advised me to turn with complete trust to God and to work out the problem with the help of Christian Science.

I decided to study Christian Science and to rely entirely on God; but before I could carry out this resolve, I had a nervous breakdown. My husband called a doctor, who ordered me to be taken to a mental hospital. This was not done, however. My sister was called in to take care of the house for us. Upon her arrival I immediately became quieter and began to eat again after having refused to eat for several days. I asked for Christian Science help.
