The Bible states, referring to God, "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity." God, then, according to this statement, is not conscious of evil and its effect, disease. Creation, including man, is, to God, spiritual and perfect, and is not in need of healing. To human belief, creation, including man, is material and imperfect. It is the knowledge of God, spiritual understanding, or Christian Science, which destroys false, human beliefs and their effects, made manifest as sin, disease, and death, in the same way that light—although it knows nothing of its opposite—destroys darkness. The so-called human mind must yield to the divine Mind, and God's goodness will then appear. In the words of Mary Baker Eddy on page 295 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The mortal mind through which Truth appears most vividly is that one which has lost much materiality—much error—in order to become a better transparency for Truth. Then, like a cloud melting into thin vaport, it no longer hides the sun."
