Whom Do We Serve?
"How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow
him: but if Baal, then follow him."—I Kings 18:21.
Every conscientious worker is confronted by the questions, What is God? and, How best can I serve Him? And to answer them in a manner entirely satisfactory to himself is not always easy. The Scriptures reveal God as Love, as Life, and as Truth. Hence, the Christian to be obedient to God must be loving. He must see good as the great spiritual fact. He must be tender and compassionate, striving always to show forth in his actions that he is learning through spiritual understanding to reflect, express, or manifest that divine Love which the world is yearning for so earnestly. Again, as he labors to show forth Love, so must he strive to reveal Life. His actions must be spontaneous and free, convincing all who behold them that he has a reserve of power upon which he can always rely. But while in possession of active vigor, he must be so gentle as not to injure the smallest child.
