In the month of June, 1907, a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was handed to me by a member of my family with these words: "You will find the way to health, peace, prosperity, an answer to every question, and a complete education in this book." I glanced over the pages a few times, and then laid it aside.

Drifting along for six years more, trying to battle with what the physicians called an incurable disease of the blood, I visited many hospitals and tried every material remedy offered, with no improvement. One day a physician informed me that I could live only a short time unless an operation was performed. That night and all the next day something kept saying, You will have to accept Christian Science. I went to the one who had given me Science and Health six years previously, and asked if my case could be healed in Christian Science. The reply was, "Yes; God knows you now as His perfect son." I shall never forget the peace and joy that came over me as we talked about God and His love for His children; and I slept that night for the first time in months.

Treatment was taken up right away, and I was advised to make a study of the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation, as found on pages 16 and 17 of Science and Health. In a few days I noticed a great change; and I was finally healed of this blood condition of many years' standing. During the epidemic of the year 1918, I was taken ill, but had no fear as to the result; and was out again in less than two weeks. Recently, a stomach trouble and other ills disappeared under the same benign influence.
