It is time publicly to express my gratitude for the blessings...

It is time publicly to express my gratitude for the blessings that have come to me in Christian Science. After several years of illness, parts of which were spent in sanitariums, my only future seemed bondage to partial paralysis and loss of eyesight. I had always been an earnest, conscientious worker in an orthodox church, and many prayers had been made for my recovery, but without resultant health. When Christian Science was first brought to me, I refused to listen to the still, small voice; but once more man's extremity proved to be God's opportunity and I was healed mentally and physically through the power of Truth.

The steps from material sense to Soul, Spirit, have not been quickly taken, as the weeds of materiality and personal sense are not easily pulled up, but loving practitioners and class instruction have done much to beautify the garden of thought. While I was in the far North, the understanding of God's omnipotence healed, in less than a month, severe injuries to my head, resulting from an accident caused by my jumping from one boat to another. No stitches were taken, nor were material remedies used. When port was reached eight days later, a surgeon was called by the transportation company, and he said, "The wound is healing clean." His further advice and suggestions were courteously declined.

One year ago I laid off the glasses to which fear had bound me even after clearance of sight. Sight had to become to me spiritual perception before perfect freedom was demonstrated. It being necessary, recently, to undergo a physical examination, mortal mind questionings were silenced by a physician's certified statement of "eyesight, excellent" and "general health, good."
