TRUTH'S GLORIOUS STAR

Bright star of Truth, which pierced Judea's nightAnd over Bethlehem shed thy silvery lightUpon the manger where the Christ-child lay,Today we see thy beauteous rays again,And hear hosannas and the glad amen,And view the light which heralded that day.

GOD DIRECTS

Whether the flower grow fast or slow,Whether the rain be fallingOr on its petals the sunbeams glowWhen the south wind is calling;Whether the dew bathe its tender face,Or a chill breeze be blowing,Through a divine, eternal graceGod hath directed its growing.

EMMANUEL

"God with us!" O holy, gracious Spirit!May our hearts be ever humble in Thy sight; While the Father's presence gives us steadfast courage,Gives us hope amid the most despairing night:And we praise Thee, who art Life and light.

"AS IT IS IN HEAVEN"

Is the load heavy?

INTROSPECTION

I stood reflective at the gate of day—What is the record of thy heart, my friend,And whither doth its deepest purpose tend?

"HE THAT KEEPETH ISRAEL"

WHEN under bright'ning morning skiesTo its day's work the city wakes,And men to all their problems rise,Yet know the Love that ever makesLife's burdens light and strength supplies,There sounds o'er many a busy streetAnd all the human toil above,The chime of bells whose music sweetA message brings of peace and love.

THANKSGIVING

TODAY I lift my heart in praise,A song of thanks to Thee I raise,For blessings that have crowned the year,For vict'ry over many a fear.

THE MOTHER CHURCH

SEEN in the twilight of an autumn day,With golden lights appearing from within,The pure pale opalescence of its symmetryLooms like some palace of a poet's dreamAgainst the firmament.

LOVE EVER NEAR

My child, I give thee life and health,Thou art My constant care;I fill thy days with treasured wealth,With thee, My goodness share.
