Eye on the world: Defending our fellow man
In “Behind Facebook Live attack, hidden scourge of crime against disabled” The Christian Science Monitor reports that individuals with mental disabilities who are bullied and harassed at school or in public are now being recognized as victims of hate crimes. This was highlighted last week when “the Facebook Live stream of an assault against a mentally disabled young man led to the circulation of the disturbing images among millions of Americans.” Some progress has been made: “During the past several decades, society has grown more inclusive of the disabled, schools have increased antibullying efforts, and some police have bolstered training.” However, there’s still more work to be done to end the mistreatment. “One of the lingering effects [of this Facebook Live video] could be a greater awareness of the fact that people with disabilities are subject to violent crimes at three times the rate of their non-disabled peers.”

From the Bible:
All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them.
From the writings of Mary Baker Eddy:
“Love one another” (I John, iii. 23 ), is the most simple and profound counsel of the inspired writer.

Mankind will be God-governed in proportion as God’s government becomes apparent, the Golden Rule utilized, and the rights of man and the liberty of conscience held sacred.

Related articles from The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel:
In “Be ye kind”: “Christian Science teaches us the nature of divine Love, the Principle of kindness, its unerring rule, and how it can be unfailingly proved and manifested in our human experience. In the degree that we understand this Principle, it can be scientifically demonstrated that there is a divine law which underlies its perfect expression.” And “The aim of Christian Science is to heal and harmonize every condition or situation that is wrong. Nothing can accomplish this but spiritual understanding, which is the basis of all true kindness.”
In “Not a victim of bullying”: “In searching out ways to understand more about truth, I learned about Christian Science. I also learned that the way one stands up to the attempt to dominate and control is mental—spiritual in nature. I learned that ‘the weapons of our warfare’ are indeed ‘not carnal’ (II Cor. 10:4 )—that obedience and expression of the synonyms for God as given in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy are the most powerful effective weapons one could ever employ in the defense of oneself or others.” And “The confidence inspired by the fact that God is All, that—in the end His will must be done—assures us that those who are suffering or oppressed will experience their God-given freedom because they are truly free now. This will become increasingly apparent as Christian Science brings its healing, saving knowledge of God to a world starved for peace and freedom from oppression of any kind.”
