Eye on the world: Coming together for peace
In “In deeply divided Israel, Jewish and Arab women build case for peace” The Christian Science Monitor reports on the unified effort of Palestinian and Israeli women calling for a return to peace negotiations between their conflicting governments. “The 4,000 women gathered at the Qasr el Yahud baptism site in the Jordan River Valley to press for peace,” and “a two-week ‘March of Peace’ in October that started near Israel’s border with Lebanon and ended in Jerusalem,” are two examples of the latest partnership between Jewish and Arab peace activists. The Monitor writes, “After countless rounds of failed negotiations, a violent year full of stabbings and the election of Israel’s most right-wing government yet, none of the country’s leading politicians talk of peace even in vague, aspirational terms.”However, the collaboration of women from both sides of the conflict has particular promise: “Research shows that women’s involvement in efforts to procure peace improves both its probability and its longevity.”
Ideas on this subject:
From the Bible:
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
From the writings of Mary Baker Eddy:
With one Father, even God, the whole family of man would be brethren; and with one Mind and that God, or good, the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth, and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which constitute divine Science.

The mortal dream of life, substance, or mind in matter, has been lessened, and the reward of good and punishment of evil and the waking out of his Adam-dream of evil will end in harmony,—evil powerless, and God, good, omnipotent and infinite.

Related articles from The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel:
In “Middle East unity–beyond sect or nationality”: “Christ communicates to all parties, dissolving the sense of hatred or ego that would stall peaceful resolutions. Christ sees only unity, regardless of sect or nationality.” And “Spiritual harmony and unity, not conflict, is what’s sanctioned by God. We can insist that humanity cannot be in conflict, as God has designed His creation to live in harmony. And we can expect to behold this same attitude in individuals of any faith, or of no faith at all.”
In “There is no reality in war”: “There can be no reality in war, because Love is ever present; and there is no hate or prejudice in Love.” And “Furthermore, there can be actually no war because there is but one man—God’s man, who is conscious of safety, harmony, peace, and other qualities of universal divine Love. There is no place where these qualities and all the ideas of God are not true and active. The spiritual universe is God’s reflection. Consequently, there is no place where inharmony can exist, and no circumstance that can separate man from the consciousness of peace.”
